You may be surprised when you make assumptions about where disliked plot points stem from, - но ничего конкретного, естественно, не сообщает.

A good television secret is hard to keep.
With fan Web sites often leaking every upcoming plot twist, loyal viewers often know exactly what is going to happen on their favorite series. But followers of WB's ``Angel'' (tonight at 9 on WLVI, Ch. 56) were probably stunned when Christian Kane popped up at the end of the Nov. 19 episode, just before the series went on a brief hiatus.
The actor, who plays morally conflicted lawyer Lindsey McDonald, hadn't appeared on the supernatural drama since April 2001.
``I came in very early in the morning and shot the scene with a second unit,'' Kane said during a recent telephone interview. ``I didn't tell anyone. It was between me and Joss (Whedon, executive producer). I couldn't tell my friends or my family. I felt like 007. I have a lot of family in Dallas who still watch the show. They freaked out. They were pissed that I hadn't told them.''
For Kane, the decision to return to the cult show was an easy one. ``I was actually in New York filming a film called `Taxi' with Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. I was in my hotel room when Joss called. I said, `Absolutely.' It took me two seconds. It was easy. I didn't have to think about it.''
A week later, he was filming that pivotal scene that has changed the direction of the series' fifth season.
Kane's not all that surprised to be back - ``because of the way I left. I didn't die. There was always that possibility,'' he said.
Kane has been friends with David Boreanaz, who stars as the title character, for more than seven years. He and Boreanaz had talked about Lindsey's possible return, and Boreanaz, according to Kane, was constantly telling Whedon, ``Man, you gotta bring the kid back.''
The actor revealed very little about what to expect for his character, who plays a pivotal role in tonight's episode.
``It's mysterious. If you couldn't figure out what was going on before . . . He's been away. He hasn't been on a farm, that's for sure. Joss is brilliant that way. He has a plan. I still don't know where my character is going. With this character, you never know what's going to come up.''
Even though Kane had been away for almost two and a half years, it felt completely normal to be back. ``I did the pilot,'' he said. ``Everybody is still having fun on the show, and it's very rare. Everyone shows up excited to be there and they're having fun. Everybody is still up, and this motivates you. It sounds weird, but it felt the same to be back.''
Kane grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, and his family moved around quite a bit (his father was a rodeo rider). ``It's tough to make friends when you move around. The movie theater was my friend. I've been watching movies my whole life.''
Movies also quickly became what he described as his ``acting school.'' Last year, Kane played a younger version of Robert Duvall's character in the movie ``Secondhand Lions.''
``Just to play one of my heroes - I actually got to be him. What a high reward for me in life. They told me to follow him around and get his mannerisms down. I said, `I don't have to follow him around. I've been watching him and studying him for years.' ''
Kane first auditioned to be part of the Whedon universe when he tried out for the role of Riley, Buffy's do-gooder boyfriend in the fourth season of ``Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'' He lost the role to Marc Blucas.
``I was just a little too dark. Blucas with his blond hair is the all-American kid.''
But Whedon didn't forget Kane and quickly offered him a role on ``Angel.'' ``I'll take the bad boy over the good boy any day of the week,'' he said.
``I have the luxury of working on a television show that is a movie,'' he said. ``Basically, every one of our scripts is a different movie. I get to go to a job where I'm always excited to be there. I'm always ecstatic to be at work. Everybody knows I'm going to cowboy up when I get to the set.''

"Angel" co-creator and executive producer Joss Whedon warns that terrible things will happen to the show's heroes during the remainder of the season. But the return of one character and the single-episode reappearance of another will also offer comic relief and a sense of closure.
In the Jan. 28 episode, Tom Lenk will reprise his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" character, Andrew, a formerly evil nerd now trying to redeem himself. Whether good or bad, Andrew is hilarious.
"We wanted Tom to come back because we're dealing with (vampire) slayers, and we wanted somebody from Sunnydale who was most likely to annoy everyone on 'Angel,' " Whedon said.
The "Angel" episode follows up on the May "Buffy" series finale in which Buffy used magic to share her superpowers with other women, turning them into fellow slayers.
Cordelia, the character played by Charisma Carpenter, has been in a coma since last season but will be back for the series' 100th episode, airing Feb. 4. Whedon declined to give plot details, but said Cordelia will come out of her coma for the one-episode guest role.
The episode will resolve Cordelia's storyline and look at how well the "Angel" team has done in its mission to save the world, Whedon said. "The philosophy is to tie up everything and open up other things."
Based on the show's current ratings, Whedon said he feels confident "Angel" will return for another season.
"('Angel') feels like a new beginning," co-star Alexis Denisof said of the upcoming episodes.
Actions continue to have consequences in the "Angel" universe. Whedon said Angel and his team will run into some trouble after attempting to use Wolfram & Hart, a law firm that in the past has represented wicked demons and monsters, in their fight against evil.
The Los Angeles branch of Wolfram & Hart was turned over to Angel's team at the end of last season, but the firm's reasons for allowing that to happen have never been fully revealed.
Denisof noted Angel and his crew have had to adjust as they changed from a grass-roots operation into a corporate entity with vast resources.
Denisof's Wesley also has undergone changes, evolving from the Watcher he played on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to the cool demon hunter of today.
"I took the change step by step," the actor said. "He became a more confident, more centered human being, a far cry from the repressed, dorky intellectual that was the original Wesley."
Amy Acker expressed equal enthusiasm for her character, Fred, a scientist.
"I love it; I'm not like the normal, pretty girl," she said.
Acker also said she hopes Fred will find romance with Wesley.
"I don't know what things Joss has planned; I never know what to expect," Acker said, noting she didn't expect the romance Fred had with streetwise vampire hunter Gunn (J. August Richards).
