1. Почему хронология пятого сезона сдвинута ровно на четыре месяца назад?
а) сценаристам необходимо, чтобы события финала происходили в январе 2004 (то есть через 8 месяцев после Chosen) и) это просто оплошность вроде "потерянного месяца" в середине 7 сезона "Баффи"
2. Почему к матери Лайлы вернулась память сразу же после того как Уэс убил отца?
а) их души встретились на высшем уровне бытия, и теперь мама Лайлы вернулась с посланием от Роджера Уиндэма-Прайса к Уэсли или ко всей Банде Клыка б) просто совпадение
3. Почему амулет и материализующее волшебство были посланы по почте?
а) бюджетные ограничения б) Сценаристы не нашли другого способа подсунуть Хармони Спайку в момент его материализации
4. Зачем сценаристы спаривают Спайка и Хармони?
а) они намерены радикально переписать обоих персонажей и сделать их них "комическую разрядку" шоу б) они готовы принести Хармони в жертву гнева фанатов для того, чтобы другие кандидатуры в "девушки Спайка" (Фред, Ева) казались бы фанам более приемлемым
5. Почему в чаше страданий оказалась Mountain Dew?
а) Если это идея Джосса Ведона - чаша страданий окажется настоящей, что бы в ней ни находилось. Ведон не раз говорил, что в его понимании "цель путешествия - в самом путешествии". Question: I was just wondering: In the wake of the incredibly bad news about Angel being canceled, which show do you consider the stupidest too-early cancellation ever? Not counting Angel of course, which, IMO, makes it to the top of the list. Murder One? My So-Called Life? EZ Streets? Anybody but me remember The Monroes? Some other show? I'm really curious to hear your answer on this. — Erana Z.
Matt: I think Angel and Farscape will always be charter members of this club — each coming so close to fulfilling a full run, yet cut at least a year short by small-minded bean counters — but of all the notorious and short-sighted cancellations of shows ahead of their time, I think ABC's treatment of My So-Called Life tops the list. ABC let that one go just before the WB craze of teen angst-dramas kicked in. ABC has been kicking itself over this one ever since. ABC has a number of shows that qualify for this dishonor: Nothing Sacred, last season's Miracles (which didn't even really get a chance), Homefront, to name a few. If memory serves, The Monroes was also on ABC, but the main thing I remember about that show was a very fun dinner I shared with Susan Sullivan and William Devane in Washington, D.C. The most obscure short-lived show that I still pine for was a grim crime drama, sort of a weekly Silence of the Lambs creepfest on NBC, called Unsub, which lasted a couple of months back in 1989. I thought that show rocked. Predated The X-Files and, of course, CSI. I wonder if it would have caught on nowadays. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: After watching the last few episodes of Angel, I see again why I love Joss and crew. The human experience is fair game for them: love and loss, relationships and weakness (the scenes of Gunn in the hospital reminded me so much of Wesley's time in the hospital). I was shocked that they allowed Wesley and Fred to finally get together, only to kill her off before the two of them could even start a relationship. Although I know that Amy Acker is (supposedly) staying on the show, I am not sure I agree with the decision to change her character. Joss killed off Cordelia a few weeks ago and now he has killed off Fred. It's bound to tick a few (translation: a lot of) people off. It seems a little hard for the cast to take right now. — Ricky
Matt: There's no pleasing everyone, that's for sure, and as you'd expect, I got quite a few letters from fans who were anguished and angered at the loss of yet another female hero on the show. I would probably be more upset if the episodes hadn't been so moving. Loss, grieving, redemption — all pretty heavy themes that the Joss Whedon shows have been so expert at depicting over the years. I ran hot and cold on the character of Fred over the seasons, but I really felt the impact of this character's mythic death. I'm intrigued by the addition of Illyria, who's kind of like Buffy's Anya in being an ancient formerly demonic character and sort of like Next Generation's Data in being fascinated by this strange creature known as human. The idea that as she/it evolves, she might grow to appreciate the "shell" she inhabits kind of works for me. But I won't argue with those who are dismayed that the only recurring female presences on the show right now are a ditz (Harmony, who is hilarious) and a failed vixen (Eve). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: I have a question, or rather an observation, about 24. Does it seem as strange to you as it does to me that for some reason this season all of the African-American characters seem to be on one side of the plotline, while all of the other Caucasian (for lack of a better word) characters seem to be on the other? This is not to imply that this was calculated in some way or even that there's anything wrong with that if it was, but it just struck me as oddly coincidental. What are your thoughts? On a side note, as someone who's been an avid Joss Whedon fan since the beginning of Buffy, I wanted to throw in my two cents' worth on Angel ending. It seems to me like there might have been some residual political fallout and resentment from the 2001 WB-Fox negotiations for Buffy, which ended with Buffy moving to UPN. As I remember, those negotiations were quite contentious and Joss said in interviews that he never felt as uncomfortable with the "corporate" aspect of creating television as he was then. Do you think that could have played a part in the WB's cancellation of Angel? — Alex G.
Matt: In order: I've seen the next episode of 24, which doesn't air until March 30, and all I'll say is that by the end of that story, the Palmer and CTU storylines are better integrated, although geographically, the president is still isolated in his office. I don't think the problem with the Palmer storyline in the first half of the season was racial segregation of characters, but a total lack of urgency in any of the intrigue — until Sherry was called out of bed to work her mojo. I have always liked the fact that the characters in Palmer's world just happen to be African-American, and it isn't startling that it would also include his advisers and financial backers. I'm just glad he's getting involved in the main story; up to now, he's felt awfully and boringly tangential. As for the Angel renewal situation, you may be right that the bitter negotiations that led to Buffy leaving WB for UPN may have doomed Angel's chances of ever making it past the five-year mark. If that's the case, shame on everyone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: I just want to say that, unlike the rest of your letter writers, I applaud all of the recent cancellations and rumors thereof on network TV. Since we started dating, my husband and I have enjoyed watching Buffy, Angel and Star Trek (any incarnation) together as date nights. Now that our family is growing and we have less and less free time, the networks have made it easy for us to turn off the tube and enjoy family time together. No more Angel? Cheers! No more Buffy? Even better. No more Friends and Enterprise? That's almost four hours of quality family time that will be spent reading books and not looking at expensive advertisements. West Wing taking a downturn in quality? Thank goodness, since I used to be riveted to the TV every Wednesday and haven't watched an episode since Zoe was rescued with poor writing and no suspense. I almost got hooked on Firefly last season and Karen Sisco this season, but the networks took that decision away from me. Thank you! If it weren't for Judging Amy and Gilmore Girls, I'd let my husband get rid of our TVs altogether, which is his wish. Thank you WB (Angel), UPN (Buffy/Enterprise), Fox (Firefly), NBC (West Wing, Friends), ABC (Sisco, Cupid), and CBS for giving us quality family time and removing temptation. Yours truly, T. I. Lorne (Andy Hallett) is a demon character on Angel, a Buffy spin-off that is tragically in its final season. He’s a minor character on a fairly low-rating show in a late timeslot, but in a television universe filled with all-too-real gay renovators and fashionistas, Lorne shines like a glittery shining thing on National Shine Day. (We’re talking about Buffy now, so there’ll be more of this sort of talk.)
Angel premiered in 1999 and chronicles the crimefighting efforts of Angel (David Boreanaz), a vampire cursed with a soul and thus major guiltage (see?). Through four seasons Angel enlisted his own Scooby gang to join his convoy to redemption, including Lorne: a sensitive, artistic, camp and charming "empath demon" who can read people’s souls when they sing karaoke
The joy of Buffy was its use of metaphor, and creator Joss Whedon has kept the spirit alive (and occasionally undead) in Angel. For some of us, high school was hell and the jocks were evil. In Buffy, Sunnydale High is literally on the mouth of hell and the jocks are evil demons, vampires, cunningly disguised inter-dimensional wraiths, and sometimes all of the above.
It’s no biggie then to learn in episode 42 of Angel ("Over The Rainbow") that Lorne hails from a parallel universe where his skills were rejected because Pylea has no music. On Earth he’s much more at home: in the latest season Lorne is a showbiz agent, and in episode 89 he pitches a show "that’s like Joanie Loves Chachi meets The Sorrow And The Pity. It’s Joanie Loves Pity".
Lorne rules, even if strictly speaking he isn’t, like, totally gay. He has called Angel "sugar-pie" and "a big hunk of hero sandwich", but also dubbed Cordelia "a perky love-muffin" and "hot-a-rama", as Whedon wanted to keep Lorne swinging (but not "asexual", thank Gawd).
But he’s no sissy either. In last week’s episode, Lorne had "his sleep removed" while organising a Halloween party (as one does), which had the unfortunate side effect of releasing his subconscious self, anthropomorphised. Lorne’s inner self was an angry, enormous brute and showed everybody that this crazy and undeniably queer demon meant (show) business.

The letter has the Mutant Enemy logo on the top with a picture of the little monster that walks across the screen. It is like a form letter with places to fill in the blank. The blanks were filled in by hand.

Loy Yver, согласна. Головные уборы ему как то не очень к лицу. Особенно кепка, он сразу становистся похож на гостя с солнечного юга. А гитара ему зачем? Неужели музицирует или так поставил в качестве доплнительной детали интерьера?
Только что писала биографию ДБ - он играет на гитаре и барабанах, на последних, кстати, его научил играть покойный Гленн Куинн. А вот с датой рождения у меня загвоздка - IMDB утверждает, что он 1971 года, а Totally David Boreanaz - 1969. И пойми их после этого )
