of Sarah Michelle Gellar Source: Rogue Pictures July 31, 2006
Rogue Pictures has provided ComingSoon.net with this first look at Sarah Michelle Gellar in the November 17 supernatural thriller The Return.
Gellar plays Joanna Mills, a tough young Midwesterner determined to learn the truth behind the increasingly terrifying supernatural visions that have been haunting her. Joanna has made a successful career for herself, as sales representative for a trucking company. But her private life has been difficult; estranged from her father (Sam Shepard), stalked by an obsessed ex-boyfriend (Adam Scott), and with few friends, Joanna fears that she is losing control. She sees and feels the brutal murder of a young woman she's never met, at the hands of a heartless killer - a man who appears to be making Joanna his next target. Determined to fight back, Joanna is guided by her nightmares to the murdered woman's hometown. Once there, she will discover that some secrets can't be buried; some spirits never die; and that the murder she is trying to solve may be her own.

Marsters Mania - James Marsters talks to Abbie Bernstein about his upcoming U.S. Convention

James Marsters and Friends is not just a convention headlining James - along with his manager Steve Himber, James is producing the event, to be held September 8-10 on the docked Queen Mary ship in Long Beach, California (see jamesmarsterslive.com for details). James says that, among other things, it's a chance to revisit his roots in producing live theater, which he did in both Chicago and Seattle (he also acted in the productions).
"I had been frustrated that I couldn't produce when I came down to Hollywood," James explains. "My job [as an actor] evaporates down to the minutiae of a character. That's challenging, but there's not a lot of control. I realized that I had the money to produce audio. It was a natural progression. I had a band [Ghost of the Robot] and we wanted to play publicly. So Steve [Himber] became the manager of the band and started getting a tour apparatus together. We used that to go to England and Germany and France and Amsterdam, and we also played dated in the States. When I wanted to do my stripped-down version of Macbeth in England, we used the same apparatus for that, and that became much more like a convention. It went really well, and the fans really felt that they had a good time."
Hence James Marsters and Friends, who include Buffy/Angel's Mercedes McNab (Harmony) and writers Jane Espenson, Steve DeKnight and David Fury, Smallville showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and casting director Dee Dee Bradley, Kevin Sorbo from Andromeda and Hercules and, from James' upcoming film Shadow Puppets, actor Tony Todd and director Michael Winnick. Besides Q&A's, James will be giving a concert. The Queen Mary, he adds, "was Steve's idea. Being that it's on the water, I think that'll have an effect on people. I think it'll be very exciting but also relaxed."

Do you generally stay in character on the set and if so, how far do you take it? If you don't, how do you stay focused through the long periods of waiting in between shots/scenes?
I find it best to drop character and then leap without looking back into the scene. This sometimes surprises me and things happen that I didnt plan.
If you could change one thing about Spike, what would that be?
He would have achieved something for himself, even something small.
I've heard that when you had your own theatre company, you wrote your own plays at times. What did you choose to write about, and why?
I didn't write my own original material. We adapted from short stories, we re-translated from old works, and I also helped young playwrights through the process of original works. I was most proud of Calderon's "Life is a Dream", a 17th century Spanish masterpiece equivalent to "Hamlet" but little known in the English speaking world, and an original piece called "I Might Be Edgar Allen Poe."
What do you do when you get stuck while you're writing? In other words, what's your cure for writer's block?
Let it go and it will come. Its like a bird - it will fly right away but it will come right on your shoulder when youre not even asking for it. Its a mistake to try to force your creative mind with your intelligence. The best thing to do if you are blocked is to find something that is fun.
If money was no object, what would you buy?
A small Lear jet. I spend a lot of time driving. I drive half-way around the earth every year.
You say you are a slave to Shakespeare, but are there any other English playwrights that you admire so passionately? Do you prefer the atmosphere of English theatre or American theatre and why?
I havent seen enough English theater to give a preference. Im a slave to any good playwright, or as any actor would say, a servant to any good text. Another good English-verse playwright is Christopher Fry. One contemporary of Shakespeares in Spain was Calderon, arguably Shakespeares only equal. Steven Berkoff is a fabulous English playwright, but my favorite right now is an American, John Olive.
К стыду своему должна признаться, что понятия не имею о таком драматурге - Джоне Оливе.
2. Yeah, Spike. Gotta give it up for James Marsters' Spike. (And not to get in a Buffy rut, but I'd have to agree with the Whedon posters who'd vote for Harry Groener's Mayor Wilkins.)
