Новый проект Сары

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hoping to continue her winning streak in the genre business,
Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed to star in the Hitchcockian thriller "Addicted."
The independently financed project centers on a woman whose husband and brother-in-law both end up in a coma after an accident. When the brother awakes, claiming to be her husband, she must try to understand the reality, suspecting something more sinister is at work.

The story is based on the 2002 South Korean film "Jungdok." Swedish filmmakers Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist will direct. The film is set for an October start.

Gellar, former star of the TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," will be in theaters October 13 with "The Grudge 2" and then November 10 with the supernatural thriller "The Return." She recently wrapped production on "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing."

Адаптация японского ужастика помогла Саре застолбить свою "кассовость". Будем надеяться, что адаптация корейского фильма будет не менее успешной.)))))

Новости о комиксе о 8-м сезоне "Баффи" (помещаю кусочек интервью. На вопрос отвечает художник Georges Jeanty:

JEANTY: After the American Way I jump right on to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This was an interesting situation that came about with me doing this project, but that might be better left to another interview, Jen!

THE PULSE: I'm always up for that, but how about a few teasers for the Buffy fans in the house?

JEANTY: Well, Joss Whedon came to Dark Hose about doing more Buffy books, but this time he figured he wanted to do what will become the eighth season of Buffy in comic form! To that end there will be about 20 or so books furthering the adventure of Buffy Ann Summers after her last television episode a few years back.

There have been some hints to what happens to everyone's favorite Vampire Slayer after the explosion (or was it an implosion?) of Sunnydale, but I can tell you readers are not ready for what they're gonna get! This will be the same Buffy in tone. Joss will be writing the first four issues thus far, but with an unlimited budget for effects and scenery. So all you Scooby fans take note; this is the series as it might have appeared on the big screen with a. Buffy should hit stands later this year. (SPOILER) Spike: Asylum interview at Broken Frontier. Brokenfrontier.com has an interview with the writer (his words) of SPIKE:ASYLUM, Brian Lynch.

You’re a platinum blond vampire with a soul, living in the city of angels. What’s a bloke to do for fun? In IDW’s forthcoming 5-issue series, Spike: Asylum, writer Brian Lynch adds a new adventure to William the Bloody’s time in LA. Last week Brian took some time to stop by and talk about the series (and, by the way, the part about the lap dances is at the end)…

BROKEN FRONTIER: As a cheap and easy warm up question - who is Brian Lynch?

BRIAN LYNCH: Oh man, who is Brian Lynch? That's a question that has plagued mankind since the beginning of me. I'm a 33 years old, blonde hair, fantastic sideburns, 6 foot 3 and a half.


BF: What or who inspired you to be a writer?

BL: Years of watching movies and TV shows and reading comics and wanting to try it myself. Everything from Woody Allen movies to Ghostbusters to Bloom County to David Letterman to Howard Stern has inspired how I write.

I wrote so much before I got an agent and manager that when I finally did sign with someone, I had five or so scripts that were ready to go out to studios. I just like to write, and it's very flattering that people want to read it.

BF: What have you written in the past?

BL: Past writing gig include writing jokes for the movies Scary Movie 3 (sorry) and Robots. I sold a couple of scripts to Warner Brothers, one an original kids' movie, the other a Looney Tunes script.

Sold a horror script to Artisan called Everybody’s Dead. They made Blair Witch 2 instead. Who's laughing now, Artisan? WHO'S LAUGHING NOW? Oh, you are. Very good.

Currently working on a movie, and I just sold a TV show.

I got my break writing a Muppet Movie for fun, that Henson actually wound up buying, so that was neat. Haven't met Kermit yet, though. Damn.

Comics-wise, I wrote a story for Spider-Man Unlimited # 1, co-starring Slyde.

I have a comedy website, www.angrynakedpat.com that is the home to many fun comics, animated shorts, and short films. Through the site I have released a bunch of comic books available in your favorite comic book shoppe. They are titled Monkey Man Unleashed and Patchouli. You can see a bunch of comics starring these characters at my site. You should go. I'll wait.

BF: I know you've perfected this answer already (as fans of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer magazine know) but for the un-initiated, just who is Spike?

BL: Spike is a character that started out on Buffy as a villain, but proved so popular they slowly made him a hero. He fell in love with Buffy, won back his soul to win her heart. She was all like, and this is a direct quote, "so what if you have a soul, I totally love Angel", but Spike, fool for love that he is, fought side by side with her until the end.

He seemingly died in the final episode of Buffy, but was resurrected on Angel, brought in as one of the main characters for the final year.

Basically, he's the perfect anti-hero. Started out as a completely evil character, slowly came to the side of good. He fights the good fight, but isn't a goody two-shoes like Angel. To awkwardly reduce it into comic terms, he's the Whedonverse's Wolverine.


BF: What challenges does he face in Spike: Asylum?

BL: The Asylum sells itself as a rehab center for anyone supernatural. They take in werewolves, vampires, demons, and try to curb their dark tendencies. Of course, the Asylum believes in tough love, so it's not all group therapy and arts n' crafts. It's actually more like a prison. Jam-packed with monsters.

Spike checks himself in to find a young half-demon girl that is trapped in the Asylum. When Spike enters the Asylum, he finds out that most of the patients there have either been hurt by him, or have heard horror stories about him. So Spike has to find this girl while fending off hundreds of monsters that want to dust him. That's just the first issue, things spiral way out of control from there.

BF: Where does Spike: Asylum fit in terms of the grand scheme of the Buffy-verse?

BL: Spike's at a point where he has his soul, and he's loose in Los Angeles, trying to be a hero. Problem is, he fought for a soul to win a girl's heart, and it didn't work, so now he's at a crossroads. He's been a ruthless killer forever, and now he's a champion, he's not sure what role that fits him best. The whole series deals with him trying to find his place in the world... while fighting tons of monsters, and making fun of anyone that crosses his path.

BF: What has impressed you most so far about Franco Urrus artwork?

BL: Franco's artwork is just perfect all around. No matter what is going on, Franco finds the most interesting way to visualize it. Since Spike is in a monster asylum, there are some scenes that feature literally hundreds of monsters, so Franco has to come up with a lot of different creatures on the fly, and each one is so great, you want to see a spin-off starring them. But even the scenes of Spike talking to someone in the back of a limo, with no big creatures or action beats, is drawn so moody and scary, it's just as interesting as the full-on action moments.

Very dark, violent stuff happens in this book, and Franco nails it each time. When something bad happens to a character, you feel it. But on the flip-side, the lighter, funnier moments are also done perfectly.

I'm very lucky to be working with him. He's a master of his craft, and I hope we can work together again.

"Southland Tales"

Director Richard Kelly has cited the recent Hot Dog Magazine comments about his upcoming film "Southland Tales" as being "out of context" and done during Cannes back in May.

In a comment on his MySpace blog this week, Kelly says "I have been finishing A SHORTER cut of Southland Tales under their [Sony Pictures] supervision. It has been a great experience and I feel like the film is now in better shape than ever. The film will absolutely be released in theaters, and Sony is still deciding on an appropriate release date and strategy".

He adds: "I am incredibly proud of this film and excited for it to be seen. What you will see in theaters will absolutely be my cut of the film".

По поводу интервью Линча на Ведонеске была такая шипперская драчка - любо-дорого. Интересно, что для автора главный герой Джоссверса - Спайк и только Спайк. Баффи - всего лишь девушка, недостойная его любви.
Нет, конечно, Линча можно понять - Бафку ему в свой комикс никогда не заполучить, поэтому автоматически он списывает ее со счетов. Но все равно жалко...

SPIKE VS DRACULA TRADE PAPERBACK

“Dracula? Poncy bugger owes me eleven pounds, for one thing.” Spike, Buffy vs Dracula, BtVS Episode 79.

Is that quote enough to publish a 5 part comic series? IDW answer that question with an astounding yes.

Any doubts were put aside once issue 1 was out. As Spike vs Dracula is a light and very funny story to read. The writer caught the attitude perfectly of the beloved characters from BtVS and Angel.

The first issue alone will quell any continuity questions a fan of BtVS may have. Full of continuity that leads back to episodes of not only Buffy but Angel as well, though you may have to look carefully.

With other well known characters showing up, or at least mentioned throughout the series, Bela Legosi, Ed Wood, Hitler, Michael Jackson etc add a few more comedic moments to the overall story.

After issues #1 & #2 follow Spike & Drusilla through time with brilliant artwork by Joe Corroney, it goes down hill from there. Issue 3 finds Spike alone in Nazi Germany and it’s the first issue in the series were the art changes, so be prepared. The first 10 pages are by Jeff Dabu the rest by Joe Corroney and though the art is enjoyable in the first two issues, Spike should not look like Don Adams (agent 86 in GET SMART) perhaps it’s the black hair. It also is the first time Spike teams up with Dracula, but also the noticeable green tinge appears for the first time in Dracula’s skin tone, possibly due to his demise in issue #2?

The 4th issue finds Spike and Dru in Rome, only to have Dru abducted by one who claims to be a humble alchemist, his minions then subsequently abduct Spike. Again the art changes after a few pages, but it is easy to look past it. Unfortunately this encounter leads to the release of an imprisoned Dracula.

The last comic in the series is a joy to read with Harmony’s lusting of Dracula still continuing, it brings a bit of sadness with it as the TV shows are over. With Spike at Wolfram & Hart it’s almost like watching series five of Angel and hoping that there will be more. This is just a bit more for the fans, and it’s the icing on the cake for this series of comics, as not only do you get more glimpse into Spikes past, but also a bit extra that ties in with the last season of Angel.

My biggest complaint about the books is the artwork, the story keeps continuity, unfortunately (due to circumstances beyond control) the art does not. However, Spike vs Dracula is still a joy to read.
