Девочки, спасибо огромное

Вот какую ссылку повесили на ЖЖ интервью с Джоссом В н ем есть и о фильме про Спайка и Джеймсе:

How true are these rumors of a Spike TV movie?

They're true rumors, but right now they're still just rumors. Things don't move fast in the world of anything, you know? I mean, trying to get deals made and trying to get something set up is ... I think the Sistine Chapel took less time.

But you're all for the idea.

I've been pushing for it -- I'm in fact, the secret mastermind behind it all!

You don't think James Marsters is getting too long in the tooth to wear that leather trenchcoat, eh?

I think his teeth are fine. But he and I both agree those teeth have a shelf life. They're not on the shelf, but when they are, that shelf life will be over. The glacier speed of the executive world means that we could run out of time. Or, you know, the people that I am trying to line up could become unavailable. There's a lot of factors involved, but I'm working my a-- off, as always.

Дорогие дамы и господа, счастливого Рождества!

Новичок, спасибо большое за ссылочку на интервью! Там я ещё обратила внимание на этот кусочек:

Speaking of Buffy, in your mind, where is Buffy Summers today?

I don't have to say it in my mind, because I'm gonna be saying it in a comic book. I'm actually going to be writing some Buffy comics to restart the comic book line at Dark Horse. I'm going to be writing the first four ... and basically play it as season eight. I'm going to tell exactly where Buffy went after she left Sunnydale. So you'll have to wait for that answer, but it will come.

Это только что прошло по всем сетевым сообщества по О.С., подтверждений нет, но из интервью Броуди:

Adam Brody: Considering how popular Fox's star of The O.C. is with viewers because of his fine work as Seth Cohen, it's somewhat surprising to learn that he had to rely on NBC, not his own network, to get a potential new vampire series he will executive produce off the ground. Brody and Natalie Chaidez have been given the greenlight to create a working sсriрt for a series that will center around the exploits of a rookie cop in Los Angeles who works in a special unit to battle vampires that survived the end of Joss Whedon's terrific series -- Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Fox executives might be on the losing end of this deal when the sun goes down. Fans who watched Angel and the chief Slayer on the planet take on the blood suckers are waiting in the wings to embrace a new hero.

"I'm amazed that we're all still here. Because how many of my actors that I love - and writers - and how many people show up [at the conventions] still have this [Buffy and Angel] be so much a part of their lives? It's not so much a part of network's lives, because they made us go away - but it seems like they didn't. It seems like they haven't made us go away. It seems like they never will. And being here is kind of a reminder of that. So what I would say is keep the faith, because we all have, and watch the skies."
JOSS WHEDON 2005

Статья Эбби Бернстайн

A lot has happened in the past few years for Joss Whedon. Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended after seven years on the air; Angel ended after five; the feature film Serenity rose from the ashes of Firefly becoming Joss' feature film directing debut, and Joss has been tapped to write and direct Wonder Woman. It's certainly going to be a busy time for this talented writer/director/producer.

Two years after the end of Buffy and a year after Angel's finale, how does Joss feel about them? "Well I'm not as exhausted by them," he laughs. "Occasionally, especially when I was feeding my baby at midnight, I would [watch] an episode, which I hadn't really done while we were making them. Actually, I've enjoyed them - ones that I've forgotten, that I love, ones that remembered loving that I was actually a little dissatisfied with - it's nice to have them around. It's embarrassing to say that one watches one's own work, but on occasion, I have, and I thought, 'Yeah, this is a thing.'"

At the time he directed "Chosen", Joss says, "I felt it was the right ending. I felt completely exhausted. I could barely make it through filming. I've never been that tired in my life and I mean never. Because it was over. It was time to stop and when you see the finish line, you suddenly realise how tired you are. It was a nightmare for me just physically to shoot "Chosen", but it felt like the right send-off and when it was all over, when I finished my last shot, I climbed onto the roof of the soundstages, and I looked down on the roof of the Sunnydale street that we had built on the back lot, and I took a moment and I just said, 'Well, that was cool.' Just a little time to say, 'I'm glad that I got to be here and I did what I did while I was.' And then I got off the roof and went to sleep. Actually, I think I went to drink with the crew and then I went to sleep."

However, Joss would not have slept through a sixth season of Angel. "I would have been as involved [with Season Six as with Season Five]. I would say I was very involved in the fifth season, although there seems to be some confusion on that fact."

Joss was thoroughly immersed with the Season Five episode "A Hole in the World", which saw Fred dying and being taken over by Illyria. "It was not difficult, because I was working with my troupe, and everybody was so frickin' good," he says. "The hardest stuff was all the stuff in Fred's bedroom where she dies, and we did all of that in one day and I think that was one of the most enhausting and wonderful days of my life. Just to be even close to the energy that was going on between Alexis [Denisof, Wesley] and Amy [Acker,Fred] on that set was a privilege. We all went out for a drink that night and for about half an hour, we just sat there, looking at each other. We were all too exhausted to speak. The hard thing was, I was prepping the movie [Serenity], we were trying to make deals and get everything set, and I had all these phone calls, and I was like, 'Right now, this is my movie. Right now this is as important as anything I'm ever going to make and my mind has to be here."

For Joss, there are many wonderful memories of making the episode. "To see J. [August Richards, Gunn], when he started going off on himself in the White Room, pulling that performance out of him, getting that dark side out of one of the nicest men I've ever met, was just amazing. Getting that perfect reading from James [Marsters, Spike] of the line, 'There's a hole in the world', and him after the take knowing that it was perfect, and the look on his face. Watching him and David [Boreanaz, Angel] together, bringing each other up to this intense level - there were just so many things about that episode that made it just a joy. I gave up the puppet episode in order to do that one because it meant so much. It's the only time [apart from 'Once More, With Feeling'] I've ever been able to rehearse before an episode.

"When I told Amy we were doing it, I took her out for coffee and said 'I have a great idea! I'm going to kill Fred!' Beat...beat...'And then you're going to do this other character!'" Joss does his impression of Amy's somewhat nervous response. "Okay...all right..You'll be able to work with me beforehand? Would I be able to see anything about this character?' And that night, I wrote the first draft of both Fred's death scene and the scene at the end of "Shells" between Wesley and Illyria. I actually went to Aly [Hannigan, Willow] and Alexis' wedding, where I met up with Amy and I said 'At the [hotel] bell desk, Fred's last scene and Illyria's scene are there. You've got to get them.' I didn't give one to Alexis, because he was getting married that day and I thought he could wait, but [shortly afterward, Amy and Alexis] came to the house, I made them dinner and we workshopped those two scenes and built the character of Illyria. I've got to tell you, that's as much fun as I've ever had, just getting to do that.

"I think a lot of people had no idea what Amy was capable of. Amy would just look you in the eye and become that person, with no make-up and no catsuit. There were some people who were a little bit nervous -including, I think, Amy herself - about her pulling this off, and when they saw her just be [Illyria], because she didn't have a catsuit at first, she was still dressed as Fred, she didn't have the make-up, I think people were pretty amazed. Not me - I already knew, 'cause I'm so smart."

Did any actor on Buffy go through that kind of revealing transformation? "I don't think I ever did anything quite as extreme. The closest I'd ever come was probably Boreanaz. When he became evil Angel, he showed us things we had never seen before, and then when he became evil Angel possessed by the soul of a female schoolteacher [in "I Only Have Eyes For You"], he showed me things that I'd never seen before to the point where I said, "That guy can anchor a show".

Like the fans, Joss feels it's a shame Angel did not get another year. "I think if we could have had a sixth season, like with Buffy, we really would have been able to absolutely hit the pocket, because we would have had everybody there [who had] figured out the show and how it needed to work. There were some bumps in the fifth season that I think we could have avoided in the sixth, because people were really hitting their stride."

Which characters would have still been with Angel in Season Six? "Oh, everyone. We never would have killed Wesley if we had gotten a sixth season." Would Gunn have died? "No," Joss replies emphatically.

What would Angel's sixth season have been like? For one thing, Joss reveals, Angel and Co. would still have taken on the Senior Partners at the end of Season Five, with far-ranging results. "I always imagined it as kind of post-apocalyptic. We still live at Wolfram & Hart, but it's now an abandoned thing and L.A. is a war zone. I was going to completely change the show again - but not have to build new sets - I couldn't afford to," he laughs.

The Wesley-Illyria-Illyria-in-Fred's persona romantic triangle would also have kicked into high gear. "Oh yeah, you betcha, big-time. That whole turning into Fred thing in front of the parents I had planned to do in Season Six. Luckily, I got word of our cancelation in enough time to do it earlier. I got to play a little of it, instead of a ton, but the little that I did play, was heartbreaking, so that works for me."

While the TV show may have finished, Angel stories are still being told in the form of a new comic book series. So, are the new Angel comic books meant to be a continuation of the shows plotline? The answer is a bit complicated. "Not, 'no' - they're staying away from the things that might be done in the future, so what we're watching [from the standpoint of okaying the comic storylines] is not so much exactly what they're doing - I don't have time to do that - as what they aren't doing, making sure that they don't tell the next chapter of the story in case we get the chance to."

Which segues into, what exactly is happening with the Spike spin-off, the Ripper spin-off and/or the Faith spin-off? "I'm pursuing some of these concepts,"Joss confirms. "Nothing is happening that is worth going on about, but people should know that I'm actually in the trenches, trying to work this thing. The franchise is very dear to me and I would never want it to be less than what it could be. It'd just a question of what I can get going." Since this interview, Joss and Time Minear have stated that Tim has been approached to write and direct a Spike project.

A few months after the cancelation of Angel, Joss disbanded his television production company and decided to concentrate on feature films. Was the end of Angel the last straw in Joss' relationship with TV for a while? "It kind of was," Joss acknowledges. "It really sent a message that the one brief, shining bubble of time during which I could have and did make my bones was over. There was a period where there were new networks struggling to find identities and willing to take chances, and by the time I left, that was no longer the case. The TV stations were entrenching, reality [television] was a thing, and they kicked us out. And they regretted it, and they shouldn't have done it," he notes with a laugh, "but that said, you know what? It's now back to business as it was before I started . So I was staggeringly lucky. I showed up the year I should have and then I left the year I had to."

What would it take for Joss to return to TV? "An enormous amount of power - enough power to know that I could see something through. Nobody has the power to create a hit show despite anything. The fact is, I can't just make the public come. I can make something good enough that, if given a chance, they probably will, and power would mean that I could keep something on the air long enough to attract viewers even if it got off to a rough start, make sure the thing is advertised the way it should be, and make sure that it's given a fair shake, make sure that I have some control over the casting process, so that I don't go through or watch somebody I love go through the agony of being yanked, or being replaced, or people not getting it. I've had a good collaboration with Fox, and [executives] Gary Newman and Dana
Walden have always been good friends and business partners. It's really about the networks. It's about, is there a place out there where someone will respect the fact of my voice? And you'd be amazed how hard that is to find, no matter how established you are. And my establishment is more cult than money, so ultimately, I'm not sure I could find that right now. The other thing I would say is, it would take a story worth telling where I could end it if I had to. [On the first season of]Buffy, we knew that we were going to have 12 episodes and we were going to shoot them all, we weren't going to get canceled because we weren't going to air yet, and so at the end of the season, I wrapped everything up [with "Prophecy Girl"]. And that became my m.o. I did it every season, just in case. The only time I ever did a cliff-hanger was when we got a two-year pick-up, because I can't stand not knowing what comes next. So if I could create a show [where] I thought, 'okay, I have an arc that's worth doing for a small number and then worth sustaining for a rich number', and know that it could be realized in either form, then I would feel safe enough, because of my extreme power that I mentioned earlier, to get back in those trenches."

Does Joss have any ideas for new T.V. series? "I always have a couple of ideas for things floating around in my head - that's why I love my head", he laughs. "But I'm going to let them float. I've waited a long time to make movies and I want to do that, assuming they let me make some more. No way I've abandoned T.V. I felt a little bit like it abandoned me, but the wheels always turn, and if you can get yourself into a position where you are treated as a collaborator and an equal, then you can do good work. And television is something I would do any second. Artistically, I adore it."

Meanwhile, Joss has plenty to occupy him in other areas, including writing X-Men comic books. "I've been having enormous fun. we're taking a hiatus now for four months, and then we're going to jump back into the second 12. Those are very hard, but a joy to write. I think I write them because it's such a revelation to see[artist John] Cassaday's work; that's just fun squared."

Is writing a comic book script similar to writing a teleplay? "It's very similar in the sense that you're looking for the moment and you have to be very careful about how you come to the moment. You're looking for the reason for the thing to exist. You don't want anything to be a throwaway, you don't want anything to be useless or just a set up. You really want to get into these characters and find those things about them that you love. I write The X-Men the way I'd write an episode of Angel, which is, I love every single one of these characters - let me remind myself why."

Then, of course, there is movie making. What, so far, has been the most enjoyable aspect of making Serenity? "When you're working with those guys, it's shooting. It's so much fun, they're so much fun, and we felt so strongly about what we were doing and what we were trying to accomplish and everybody [was] on the same page. Later on when you're editing, things are cast into doubt that you hadn't doubted while you were shooting them. And it's more complicated, because of the weird genesis of this movie. But during the shooting, when you're around people like Nathan [Fillion, Mal] and Gina [Torres, Zoe] and Morena [Baccarin, Inara] and the crew and, how could you not be just the happiest puppy in Hollywood?"

It's not known yet whether Serenity has done well enough at the box office for a sequel to be made, but Joss says he's trying not to worry about how the film does financially. "I've been pretty Zen about it, ultimately, it's out of my hands. I think I've done everything I can to get people into the theatres. Once they're there, I've done everything I can to make sure they have a good time. If they decide not to go, I really can't control that. But if they go, I think the movie delivers, and that's the important thing."

Fans fervent support of the canceled Firefly series played a part in getting Serenity made, and if there are any more films about the Buffy/Angel characters, it will be down to a similar vocal demand. So does Joss have a theory on what makes a show that fans will fight for different from shows that are enjoyed passively? "I think a show that fans will fight for is usually a show that has a world that they need to live in, that is greater than the show itself, that is more than the sum of its parts, not just in the sense of being good, but also in the sense of being a glimpse into a world that is clearly much bigger and complete, and has a place for the fans in it. I think that it's different if it's just a well-made show that they like, versus a show that they literally want to be in. I saw a lot of Jedi and Sith representation at ComiCon. Also a couple of Kaylees. When people are dressing up, that's a testament to the hardcore reality of wanting to live in a world."

A self-confessed movie fan, has Joss ever dressed-up in homage to a favorite film? "You know, I did not. But I have always have had a terrible fear of calling attention to myself," he reveals.

Joss may have a fear of drawing attention to himself, but by producing such phenomenal work, it's been unavoidable. Did he ever think, when he first started out, that his work would call so much attention to him? "I'd hoped that my work would be successful. I never expected to become known personally, but that's really a product of the Internet age as much as anything else - and that didn't exist when I was growing up," he points out with a laugh.

While work on Serenity has now wrapped, it doesn't mean that things have gone all-quiet on the movie front. Not only has Joss been hired to write and direct the new Wonder Woman film, Universal Pictures has also just made a deal with him to direct his original script Goners. That story is described as a dark supernatural story centered on a young woman - but Joss doesn't want to reveal any more than that just yet.

In conclusion, Joss offers that working on such a range of projects offers him a fresh perspective on a lot of his work. Does that mean that new projects have affected the wasy he looks back on Buffy and Angel as well? "Everything you do affects your perspective on everything," he says. "Ultimately, I hope the Buffyverse isn't the last universe I create that really has resonance for people, but you know, if you only get one, it's one I'm so proud of, so that hasn't changed."

Warner Bros. and producer Joes Silver have signed Joss to write and direct Wonder Woman. At the time of this interview, Joss says no casting has been done yet. "I'm still in the conceptualizing stage. If [an actress] walks in and Joes says, 'My God, we think we've found her, you've got to meet this girl, she's amazing,' I'd go on that meeting, but I'm not writing towards anyone. I'm going to cast towards the words."

It was widely reported that Joss did not want to cast any Buffy and Angel actors in Serenity. He explains this does not hold true for future projects. "For Serenity, I never wanted to give somebody the impression that I was making a movie for muself. That was very important to me, but that's done now, and frankly, I have no compunction about hiring anybody to do anything. When you love an actor, when you know what's inside them, and you know how to draw that out and take from them and just get inside them, I don't think that love goes away, and you want to work with them again and again. And I have a whole troupe of people that I feel that way about. If somebody's right for a role, they're right for a role. If nobody I love is right for a role, then I'm going to cast somebody new, and maybe I'll have a new love," he laughs. "Because there are plenty of actors who need work. Buy no, that bias was particular to Serenity, because of perception, and now that Serenity is finished, I think that's no longer a worry."

So with casting issues hopefully taking care of themselves, when will production begin on Wonder Woman? "There isn't a time frame on it. I don't get three years," Joss adds with a laugh, "but they want me to get it right, and I'm not going to do that as quickly as I can without taking shortcuts."
