Эксклюзивный клип WB к окончанию "Ангела".

Кристин/Ванда спросила Джордана Левина о том, почему они закрыли "Ангела", и вот что он ответил:

"The big problem with Angel is it didn't repeat well," Levin said. "It wasn't growing its audience, but it was a show we loved. We adored that show. It was a really hard decision. Joss Whedon came to me in February and said, 'If you don't think the show is going to come back, I'd rather know it now, so I can end it appropriately.' When we looked at our schedule, with Charmed, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, Angel and Smallville, we realized we had a lot of veteran series. And one of the challenges of any schedule is to let your veterans retire so you can make room for the rookies, like Jack and Bobby and The Mountain. It's a balancing act, and it's not fun. That was a sad day."

Вопрос к ДМ относительно его самых худших летних каникул от журнала Nickelodean.

What was your worst summer vacation?

James Marsters of Angel: One that really stands out was when we drove over dry tumbleweeds that that ignited and the engine caught fire. We had to pull off the interstate and wait for help. Yeah, that's hard to forget.

What Thrilled You--and Killed You--on the Tube This Year? Results Are In!

by Kristin Veitch | July 9, 2004
(The artist formerly known as Wanda)

First things first: To any of you who have (A) bashed the third season of Alias; (B) defended the WB's cancellation of Angel; and/or (C) failed to bow down and worship the almighty perfection that is Adam Brody, I offer only two words...
Neener-neener.

The votes have been counted for the 2004 Tater Tops Awards, where you, the fans, the couch "taters," gave the last word on what rocked (and flopped) during the 2003-04 TV season. Alias, Angel and The O.C. took top honors, lending further proof to what we true fans have always known: Big ratings do not a masterpiece make.

And the Tater Tops couldn't have come at a better time. This very Thursday, the 2004 Emmy Award nominations will be announced bright and early, and per usual (since I can't sleep anyway), I'll join E! News Live hosts John Burke and Alisha Davis live at the plum hour of 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT for all the tubelicious action.

This year, I'm making it my personal mission to tell the world (or, um, our viewers) about all the deserving tube fare consistently overlooked by those stodgy Emmy voters, who tend to vote for the same shows year after year for no reason except to drive me to an early grave. Thanks to our Tater Tops Awards, I already have a pretty good grasp on the shows and stars most loved by you fans. But if you don't mind, do me one more favor--I need all the ammo I can get. Take a minute to email me with your vote for the one series you hope will be nominated for an Emmy but which probably won't get a nod. (Please put the show's title in the subject line.)

In return, I'll mail out those illustrious (okay, hokey) Golden Tater Awards to all the winners from this year's Tater Tops, along with letters of congratulation explaining why you fans think the trophy takers are the shiznit.

You can get official results on the following pages, but in case you're wondering, here's how this year's TTs break down: Alias took home the most awards (despite what many fans poo-pooed as a lackluster season), claiming a total of eight, including Drama You Can't Live Without. Second place was a three-way tie between Angel (including Drama King for James Marsters), The O.C. (which took Best New Show, among others) and Friends (nabbing Show You'll Miss the Most, for one), with three wins each. But it must be said, Angel fans, your show lost by a hair in some categories and almost beat out Friends for Show You'll Miss the Most--not too shabby.

On the flip side, no one, and I do mean no one, pushed your buttons like Omarosa from The Apprentice and the sad social commentary that is The Swan.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: You all have impeccable taste.

It's from chicknlittle/Linda on Marsters' Mobsters:

Got this reply to an e-mail I sent to the producer, Jon Renard.

Hi Linda

Thanks for your interest in this project. I regret that at the moment I can make no comment on casting for legal reasons. As soon I am able I will make a formal announcement. I suggest you keep watching www.imdb.com and www.venetianheat.com for updates over the next few weeks.

Best wishes

This is from a poster on MoreThanSpike, jstrammer. Since he/she is repeating it, I'm just going to repeat it here--hope that's okay:

Quote:
Hey you guys, I don't nomally post, I feel better in the shadows, but I read this over at the James Marsters Forum. (It's under the EVENTS AND CONVENTIONS heading and then page 3 of the Aussie con thread.) Scroll down to JEDIGIRL78's post about her experience meeting JM in Aussieland. I'm not sure if you have to register to view, but JM reveals who the jerk was on the Buffy set who he and DB wanted to beat up cause he was mean to Sarah. Apparently it was Brian Thompson aka "The Judge". He also played the Alien Bounty Hunter on The X-Files.

I for one was always curious as to who it was, now I guess the mystery's solved. I would have never guessed it was that particular actor though.

I've always wondered about this, and now we know. There was no link to the original post, but here's one to the post I quoted:

James likes to talk – at least when he is in his public persona. At our table he covered the following topics:

His pleasure in sleeping. We asked if he would do any sightseeing and he replied that as a single parent (his words) his idea of a great vacation was to sleep and that was what he was doing as much as possible during his time in Oz. And he was enjoying it very much.

Ageing. He says he is feeling his age and we bonded over the state of your knees at 40+. And in the great mts tradition, when he said he was 42 I corrected him and told him he was still 41. He looked at me all bewildered and said ‘Am I?’ But we agreed that specifics didn’t matter once you were 40. He said he was mad to do all the stunts that he did on the shows, but that he loved it so much he wouldn’t stop. Stunt Spike (Steve) spent a lot of time reading the newspaper. If Spike’s not being thrown into a wall, it’s probably James doing the stunt.

Macbeth. James gave us his reading of the play in great detail. One of our table stated afterwards that she felt bad she hadn’t done the preparatory reading. He has very firm ideas of how it should be played. A young and innocent girl must play Lady M (as he calls her). It must be done as written in period. And the scene with Hecate must be as horrid and harrowing as film will allow. I don’t know what will happen on that set if the Director suggests he try things a different way.

Funding for Macbeth. As I am sure you have all read by now, the funding for the film comes from the man who invented the MP3. James had only ever envisioned an $8-10 million budget and he said he thought it would play once on the BBC and then be released direct to video. The $50 million offered was much more than he ever anticipated. However, he told us that he is very uncomfortable with just taking the man’s money and has suggested that they raise the funds instead. The MP3 guy has agreed that is a good idea (and is apparently able to raise a lot of money easily), but keeps saying things like ‘But if we don’t get it all, I’ll just give the rest to you.’ MP3 guy appears to be a big Shakespeare fan and is in agreement with James’ vision of the play. What James is currently focussing one is: 1) the screenwriting (he told us how he wishes to film the Hecate scene but I shan’t spoil you except to say that the process apparently involved him writing the staging and then saying with delight, ‘No, James. That’s not horrible enough. More evil needed.’ And coming up with the worst thing he could think of. 2) the distribution. This is apparently the hardest part of filmmaking. The question he has to be able to answer is “Why will teenagers come to see this film?” His answer is “Because it has lots of violence and sex.” This is what gets most films distributed. He said it was no good starting to make the film unless the distribution is lined up. He wants to take a leaf out of Peter Jackson’s book and have a great pitch and presentation to give and so that is his other focus at the moment. He is working on the art and look of the film. (if you look at the dvd extras of The Fellowship of the Ring, you’ll be able to see what he’s trying to do). We tried to convince him that it was much cheaper to film in Australia than in the US and he should come here to do so. Why, we have medieval castles just lying around everywhere!

James came across as very savvy in the ways of the film business. And what impressed me was that he clearly is not going to exploit the generosity of MP3 guy. Whilst the film is his passion, it is more than a vanity project that must get made at any cost.

His skin. Apparently the lack of sun to his chest over the last 7 years has affected his skin and he has pink splotches and is no longer able to tan there. GS is convinced he has a fungal infection, but never did follow up on her promise to tell him all about her theory!

The state of the presidency and politics. You all know James’ views by now. Suffice to see our table pointed out to him how embarrassing it is to have your nation’s leader sniff the tail of George W. as though he is a god. No-one at our table was offended by his remarks. I did hear him say to another group that he had previously been uncomfortable with saying negative things about his country when overseas but that he honestly believed the current US administration made it necessary for him to do so. He did like the idea of compulsory voting (you HAVE to vote in Australia) and that he felt low voter turnout was a problem in the US. And let’s leave it at that and have no arguments about it.

US football versus Australian Rules football. As we eventually pointed out to James, giving Americans sh*t is a sport enjoyed by most of the world, and calling your football players wimps for wearing all that padding is an integral part of it. A small bout of mock fisticuffs ensued as we each defended our nation’s honour. He did say he had watched the cricket on the television and found it fascinating.

David Boreanaz. As he did in the Q and A, he defended David Boreanaz as a good guy with a great work ethic. He particularly admired his ability to put in the hours week after week. He also said that he thought David would be up for doing an Angel TV movie- but that he believes Sarah has had enough of Buffy and wants to move on.

His acting future. He talked about how his enjoying being feted by studio heads, although nothing has come of it so far. David Greenwalt has been pitching a series to studios with James as the lead in a role that would allow him to pay many different characters. As he said in the Q and A there are no takers so far. Joss wants to do a Spike tv movie, but James feels it will only sell as part of package of the 4 movies Joss wants to do: Angel; Spike; Willow and Giles.

Being on Angel. He enjoyed it, but felt they didn’t really know what to do with Spike and that they only used the idea of Spike as Angel’s doppelganger in 2 episodes, which he felt was the best thematic way to use him in the show. He’d love a Spike spinoff but said what would it be called: notAngel?

Fox TV news. When not sleeping, James appears to have spent his time watching television. He turned onto what was labelled as CNN, but found it was Fox news, which he felt he had to apologise to us for due to its political leanings. He particularly expressed his lack of admiration for some guy called Bill O’Riley? (Riley). He was perhaps more passionate about this than almost anything else (and that’s saying a lot). He also felt that Rupert Murdoch exerted much editorial influence over Fox news and he didn’t like Rupert very much. We were all pleased to be able to tell him that Rupert was in fact, Australian. He thanked us for our gift.

И чрезвычайно милын и приятные результаты голосовалки на ATNZone
www.atnzone.com/tvzone/fe...poll.shtml
Before I begin, I want to thank the people from all over the net who answered the poll and forwarded it around to their friends. I received nearly one hundred and fifty responses, and the answers people gave were terrific; they made me laugh, and made me think.

I've done polls for years, and I've seen it all. The one thing that surprised me this time was how varied the individual choices were. In past polls, I've noticed that a fan will often pick one character for almost every category (favorite character: Angel; want to be on a desert island with: Angel; favorite vampire: Angel; surviving in the alley: Angel, you get my drift.) In this poll, rather than choosing the same answer for most of the questions, people would, say, pick Wesley for favorite character, specify Spike for the desert island, say Cordelia's death was hardest to take but Fred was the person they would bring back, and so on. All of this made for a more interesting survey.

The results of the poll brought me to the following conclusions:

-- Spike is still the most popular character in Joss Whedon's Buffyverse, no matter what show he's on.

-- Angel as a character was a lot more popular in the final season than he was a couple of years ago.

-- Wesley is nearly everyone's favorite character, despite the popularity of both Angel and Spike.

Many fans indicated that they loved Cordelia, but specified when choosing her that they meant pre-season four Cordelia. This confirms my theory ("I've got a theory!") that the "Angel" writers blew it with Cordelia in season four. Similarly, many who chose Connor specified that they were choosing emotionally balanced Connor after he regained his memory in "Origin."

I was surprised at the popularity of Illyria; it was hard to detach the Illyria votes from the Fred votes at times, because many referred to them as the same character. I was also surprised at the popularity of "Buffy" character Andrew.

The spinoff question drew a wild variety of responses; surprisingly few just recreated either the "Buffy" or "Angel" cast. This says a lot about how good the characters on both shows were.

And now for the poll results!

_______________________

Question 1: What was your favorite episode of "Angel"? Or favorite episodes, up to three? (Descriptions are fine if you don't know the title; I'll supply it.)

The surprise winner was... drumroll... "Smile Time," with 38% of the vote. Three other episodes also rated high. Please note that three of the four highest rated episodes aired in the fifth and final season.

38% for "Smile Time"

[Angel is turned into a puppet]

29% for "Damage"

[Andrew arrives to help a mentally ill and homicidal slayer named Dana]

27% for "I Will Remember You"

[Angel becomes human, and Buffy's lover, but only for one day]

27% for "You're Welcome"

[Cordelia awakens from her coma, and does one final favor for Angel]

Runners-up included:

18% for "Hero"

[Doyle sacrifices his life to save others, including Angel]

16% for "A Hole in the World"

[Wesley and Fred finally get together, right before Fred dies and her body is taken over by Illyria]

16% for "Reunion"

[Darla and Drusilla commit the Wine Cellar Massacre, and a depressed and discouraged Angel allows it to happen] [I wonder if some people who voted for this one meant "Reprise?"]

13% for "Destiny"

[A once again corporeal Spike challenges Angel for the Shanshu prophecy, except it turns out to be Mountain Dew]

11% for "In the Dark"

[Oz brings Angel the ring of Amarra, with Spike hot on his heels]

10% for "Darla"

[Darla and Angel, past and present; part two of "Fool for Love"]

10% for "Not Fade Away"

[Everybody freaking dies, and the series is over. No, I'm not bitter]

8% for "Five by Five"

[Wolfram & Hart pays rogue slayer Faith to kill Angel, but she finds it harder to do than she expected]

8% for "Sanctuary"

[Angel protects Faith from Buffy, and helps Faith find the road to redemption]

8% for "Spin the Bottle"

[Angel, Gunn, Cordelia, Wesley, and Fred revert to their teenage personas]

8% for "Guise Will Be Guise"

[Wesley impersonates Angel, and wackiness ensues]

There were tons of episodes that got a minimal number of votes -- too many, in fact. If your fave didn't make the top group of fifteen and you want to know how many votes it received, check out my episode synopses and total vote results at www.billiedoux.com/angelsnops.html

_______________________

Question 2: Who is your favorite "Angel" character? (Dead characters are fine; most of them are dead, anyway.)

The big winner was Wesley, no surprise there. Spike, with only one season on the show, came in second. Here's the breakdown:

33% Wesley

22% Spike

10% Angel

9% Cordelia

5% Lindsey

5% Fred

4% Doyle (not bad for a character who did only nine episodes)

Here are some of my favorites comments:

"Wesley. I want to say Spike, but I don't feel he was in the Angelverse long enough to qualify."

"In the beginning, it was Doyle. Then for a while, it was Lorne. Briefly, it was The Big Gulp Demon from That Old Gang of Mine. Then sometime after that, Spike turned up... and that was that."

"[Wesley] was easily the most nuanced character on either series, with his horrible inferiority complex, and a mean streak that could rival Angel's. I have a feeling if the death of Fred had happened earlier this past season, we would seen a descent into madness to rival any popular entertainment has ever shown."

"The ensemble nature of the show has left me thinking that it's hard to pick one who really stood out. I suspect Wes or Spike would be my answer. Wesley, because of the complexity acquired the hard way through the show's five years. Spike, because he completely stole the final season."

_______________________

Question 3: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have one "Angel" character or actor to keep you company, who would it be?

Now, see, I should have phrased this more clearly. I intended for people to pick either an actor OR a character, and many did... but most gave both in their responses, and that's how I compiled the results. I should also have mentioned that any of the vampires would live past dawn; many respondents speculated about the availability of shade.

38% Spike / James Marsters

20% Wesley / Alexis Denisof

11% Angel / David Boreanaz

9% Illyria, Fred, Amy Acker

6% Gunn / J. August Richards

4% Cordelia / Charisma Carpenter

4% Lorne / Andy Hallett

2% Connor / Vincent Kartheiser

What's interesting is that the results are so different from the favorite character question. Why the reversal of Wesley and Spike? Why so many more votes for Gunn? Perhaps it had something to do with what that person could actually do for you or with you on a desert island. One wonders.

Here are some fun comments from the respondents:

"Wesley. It would be kind of like having the Professor from Gilligan's Island... forget I said that."

"Connor. He survived Quor-Toth, so he can do all the getting of food, making the fire, building the shelter, and I can get a sun tan and wait to get rescued."

"No brainer. Spike, for a million reasons, most of them X-rated."

"Spike. Or a Spike-shaped sexbot of some kind."

"Spike. Do I have to go into all the chocolate-covered reasons?"

"James 'Hubba hubba' Marsters."

"I totally think Cordy and I would get along, but I always enjoy staring at Angel."

"Actually, Gunn. He's hot, strong, funny, and resourceful."

"Illyria, because she can look very hot, and she could walk home to get help."

"I so would not want to be stranded on an island with an actor, so I'm thinking, Spike. Although there is the Big Pile of Dust issue."

_______________________

Question 4. Which twosome was your favorite couple on "Angel"?

Okay, here I really blew it; I meant a romantic couple. And a lot of respondents took it that way. But some didn't.

19% Wes and Lilah

18% Wes and Fred

15% Angel and Darla

12% Angel and Cordelia

9% Angel and Spike

4% Angel and Lorne

4% Angel and Buffy

3% Cordelia and Doyle

Plus two votes each for Angel and Lindsey, Wes and Gunn, Wes and Cordelia, Holtz and Justine (gag me with a spoon), Fred and Gunn, Lindsey and Lilah, Cordelia and Groo, and Wesley and Illyria. Some variety, huh?

Comments from respondents:

"Wes and Lilah. It was so dirty, but so much fun!"

"Fred and Wesley's deaths proved that they were the Romeo & Juliet of the Angelverse. However, with all the sexual innuendo between Angel and Spike during season five, I wonder if they could have been the favorite couple?"

"Lorne and Angel. I know, I know, they're not really a couple. But they should be."

"Darla and Angel. David Boreanaz has never had more chemistry with any other actress. Also, I loved the couple's rich history and the fact that they were the only couple in the history of the Jossverse to have a child."

"There are couples on Angel?"

_______________________

Question 5: Who was your favorite male vampire? Who was your favorite female vampire?

We had a clear-cut and unsurprising winner in the male vampire category:

64% Spike

26% Angel

8% Angelus

2% Penn

If we combine Angel and Angelus, which is fair, it looks a little better for the star of the show.

64% Spike

34% Angel/Angelus

2% Penn

For those of you who are about to write to me and ask who Penn is, he was in the season one episode, "Somnambulist;" he was Angelus' acolyte who kept killing surrogates of his own family.

The vote for female vamp was also a landslide, although Drusilla lovers noted that Darla certainly had the benefit of more screen time. Harmony is loved, but many said they considered her to be comic relief. I think the fans like whole-hearted villainy in their female vamps.

60% Darla

24% Drusilla

15% Harmony

1% Elizabeth

Before you ask, Elizabeth was in the season three premiere, "Heartthrob", beloved of James the vampire. I wonder why James, who got more screen time than Elizabeth, didn't get a single vote?

_______________________

Question 6: Who was your favorite villain during the run of "Angel"? (And remember, villain is a subjective term.)

We had two clear winners here. I was surprised that Lilah outstripped Lindsey, even though the vote was close.

28% Lilah

24% Lindsey

10% Angelus

7% Holtz

6% Darla

3% Holland Manners

3% Wolfram & Hart

2% Spike

And here are some of my favorite comments:

"Lilah Morgan. If only they had turned her into a vampire. Just think of how evil she would have been!"

"Lindsey. He was cool, he was hot, he was all-temperature Lindsey."

"Lindsey, the lawyer we love to hate. Evil eye-candy!"

"Lindsey. Gorgeous and conflicted. Who could ask for more?"

"Is Numfar a villain?"

_______________________

Question 7. If you could create the next show in the Buffyverse, and it could star anyone from either "Angel" or "Buffy," dead or alive, who would it be? (Limit your answer to six characters at the most!)

Wow, was I sorry I asked this one! Compiling the results was a bitch. But there were clear favorites. There were also a good many votes out in left field for lesser known characters such as Dana the Slayer, Caleb the evil minister, Ilona Costa Bianca, Vampire Willow, and the Cheese Guy.

And yes, I know the percentages don't add up. Nearly everyone made six choices, so I multiplied by six... because 86% of the respondents made Spike one of their choices. So sue me.

86% Spike

54% Wesley

48% Illyria

41% Willow

34% Angel

33% Giles

33% Andrew

28% Gunn

28% Faith

25% Buffy

24% Xander

24% Fred

23% Cordelia

What I found most interesting was the popularity of Illyria; in fact, if you combine the votes for Fred and Illyria, Amy Acker came in second after Spike. Several respondents made the point that Illyria as a character was just getting interesting, and didn't have time to develop properly. Andrew's popularity was also a surprise... to me, anyway.

I was thinking. If we brought this down to the top seven characters that are still alive, we'd have a new Buffyverse show with: Spike, Illyria, Willow, Angel, Giles, Andrew, and Gunn.

Here are some comments:

"You meant six with Spike, right?"

"Spike first. I don't think I even want to watch a spinoff if it doesn't have Spike in it."

"I'm still interested in the Faith and Spike roadshow concept with support from Gunn."

"Illyria and Drogyn. I mean, the scene with them playing and trying to understand the videogame? Priceless."

"Spike, Illyria and Giles. Poor Giles would be constantly cleaning his eyeglasses over those two!"

"Either a show based on Lilah and Lindsey, like their work at Wolfram & Hart before they started with the Angel project, or a show based in the 1880s with Angelus, Darla, Spike and Dru."

"Giles. With guest appearances by dead people."

_______________________

Question 8: Whose death on "Angel" was the hardest to take?

Wesley's win here didn't surprise me, since his death was so fresh in our minds. But it also appears that viewers have not forgotten Doyle.

36% Wesley

18% Cordelia

18% Fred

15% Doyle

5% Lindsey

5% Darla

3% Lilah

1% Merl

And the comments:

"I say Wesley. I've been crying for him since the cancellation announcement. I knew Joss was going to kill him."

"Lilah, Darla, Lindsey and Wesley. Oh, my god. The only four damned characters on the show that I liked, and they killed ALL OF THEM!!!"

"In the end, I wish they hadn't killed Fred. Then Wesley wouldn't have died, either."

"Cordelia's. She was such an awesome character, and I'm still pissed at how they ruined her."

_______________________

Question 9: If you could bring back one and only one, who would it be? Fred or Cordelia?

And the winner is Cordelia by a comfortable margin, although Fred made a darned good showing. Plus, many of the comments said that they chose Cordelia to bring back because they liked Illyria, and Illyria was technically still alive.

55% Cordelia

40% Fred

3% Neither

2% Could I pick Doyle instead?

Comments:

"Cordy, because it would be too painful for Fred to find out Wesley died."

"Fred. Cordelia was fun when she was a brat, but she did not mature well."

"Cordelia, but before the whole season four grossness."

"Definitely Fred... but the Fred who was making her way to being much edgier. I grew to like Cordelia, and then all that demon possession stuff ruined it. Sick of women being holy vessels for anything!"

"Fred, but it is close. Cordelia got her run (even if I was never entirely satisfied with the results). Fred, like the series itself, was hurried to her grave so we could have a big finish."

"Neither. Both should stay dead."

_______________________

Question 10: "Not Fade Away" question: If you could choose only one of those four in the alley (Angel, Spike, Gunn, Illyria) to survive, who would it be?

When they finished cussing me out, most respondents picked Spike. Not a surprise.

56% Spike

20% Angel

12% Illyria

11% Gunn

There were a lot of fun comments on this question:

"One? ONE!!?!! You are evil. You are Senior Partner, aren't you?"

"I can't choose between them. It's like Olaf trying to make Xander choose between Willow and Anya. Insane troll logic."

"Illyria. Because she could regain her full powers, turn back time, and none of them, including Wesley, would die."

"Spike. I refuse to believe my boy is dead. Oh, um... I mean deader."

"My heart would break, but in the end... I'd choose Spike."

"Spike, Spike, Spike! Wanna ask me again? Spike, Spike, Spike!"

"Spike. It is, after all, Angel's last stand, Illyria prior to this episode was only annoying, and Gunn has no prophecy to be fulfilled in an as yet unfilmed Spike: The TV Movie."

"Illyria, because she just became a good guy in the last few minutes of the series... Illyria needs a chance to become a hero."

"Gunn. The other three will probably survive."

"Spike. He's going to Shanshu, you know."

_______________________

And that's all for now, folks. I'm tremendously sad that both "Buffy" and "Angel" are over; I reviewed every episode of both shows and they've been a huge part of my life for eight years. Here's hoping that Joss Whedon takes pity on us and finds it in his heart to bring the Buffyverse back somehow. (Yes, I know, but as far as I'm concerned, cartoons and comics don't count.)

Again, thanks to everyone who participated. Fans are the absolute best.

TV Gal Wants to Rule the Emmy World
(Monday, July 12 08:02 AM)
By Amy Amatangelo
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Welcome to yet another edition of "If I ruled the world ... ."
If I ruled the world, chocolate (especially dark) would have no caloric repercussions, women's clothing sizes would be standardized, trying to watch four shows in one timeslot would count as exercise and the Emmy nominations would go a little something like this:

Outstanding Drama Series

"The O.C."
"Everwood"
"The Sopranos"
"Touching Evil"
"Without a Trace"
It's good to start with the biggest pipe dream of them all -- that the Emmys will ever nominate anything that spawns from The WB. Remember the motto Emmy voters live by: "Familiarity, repetition, old favorites." But we saw this season with shows like "24" and "Alias" (which really lost me with the whole "Mission Impossible" fake masks in the season finale) how difficult it is to keep a one hour drama on track. "Everwood" is a series that gets better with every episode, giving depth to its supporting characters, tackling controversial topics and showcasing some of the best performances on television every week. The dark, moody "Touching Evil" answered the question "Do we really need another crime drama on television?" with a resounding "yes." And the Oliver fiasco aside, I defy you to find me a more endlessly entertaining show than "The O.C.," which single-handedly saved the prime time soap opera.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Adam Brody, Seth on "The O.C."
James Gandolfini, Tony on "The Sopranos"
Anthony LaPaglia, Jack on "Without a Trace"
Gregory Smith, Ephram on "Everwood"
Kiefer Sutherland, Jack on "24"
David Boreanaz, Angel on "Angel"

Let's get real -- Brody gave the performance of the season. Whether mocking his father's (Peter Gallagher) wild facial hair ("Dad those eyebrows are out of control.") or courting the girl of his dreams ("Slowly I thaw her icy heart."), Seth is the boy we all wish we had known in high school. Without my friend Kiefer, they're would be no show to talk about. While "24" was clearly flawed this season, Sutherland valiantly held the entire series together. The final shot of him weeping in his car almost made us forget all about that blasted baby story line. And by now you know that I think Gregory Smith is one of the best actors on television today. Confident yet awkward, devoted to his sister, self-deprecatingly funny, Smith has shaped one of the best teenagers ever to hit prime time. And in his final season, it's about darn time Emmy voters paid the incomparable Boreanaz a little respect. It's clear that there are more than enough fantastic dramatic roles for men, because if the Emmys were to allow more than six nominations, I'd love to include Michael Chiklis on "The Shield" and Jeffery Donovan of "Touching Evil."

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Amy Acker, Fred on "Angel"
Amy Brenneman, Amy on "Judging Amy"
Edie Falco, Carmela on "The Sopranos"
Jennifer Garner, Sydney on "Alias"
Amber Tamblyn, Joan on "Joan of Arcadia"

We entered this season not even knowing how talented Acker is, thankfully Joss Whedon created the opportunity to let us all in on Acker's secret. Garner carries her show with grace and some serious girl power. Even though she talks to God and has a divine mission of the week, Tamblyn has created one of the most realistic teen on TV.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Carlos Bernard, Tony on "24"
Alexis Denisof, Wesley on "Angel"
Victor Garber, Jack on "Alias"
Walton Goggins, Shane on "The Shield"
Chris Pratt, Bright on "Everwood"

Truly you could pick any of the fabulous supporting actors on "The Shield," but Goggins' combustible Shane gave "The Shield" its most compelling and most dangerous story line. As I've discussed endlessly, this season Pratt transformed his one-dimensional jock character.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

Reiko Aylesworth, Michelle on "24"
Tyne Daly, Maxine on "Judging Amy"
Drea de Matteo, Adriana La Cerva on "The Sopranos"
Janel Maloney, Donna on "West Wing"
Joely Richardson, Julia on "Nip/Tuck"

Richardson is the one thing that keeps the outrageous FX drama somewhat grounded. She's a walking contradictions -- fragile, yet fierce. Heartbroken, but headstrong. De Matteo gave one of the best performances of the season. Who else could make the phrase "irritable bowel syndrome" so funny and also have us screaming at the TV, "for the love of God, don't tell Christopher." Even though she'll be our pal Joey's sister next season, I'm still hoping that Silvio spared her (you heard she's signed on for the final season of "The Sopranos," right?).

Outstanding Comedy Series

"Arrested Development"
"Everybody Loves Raymond"
"Friends"
"Gilmore Girls"
"Scrubs"

No matter what category you want to put the show in, "Gilmore Girls" recovered from a shaky start to remain one of the best shows on television and took a leap-of-faith with its controversial season finale. And if "Scrubs" and "Arrested Development," the two funniest sitcoms on television, don't get a nomination, that sound you hear will be me screaming.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Jason Bateman, Michael on "Arrested Development"
Zach Braff, J.D. on "Scrubs"
Topher Grace, Eric on "That 70's Show"
Matt LeBlanc, Joey on "Friends"
Tony Shaloub, Adrian on "Monk"

Topher Grace is prime time television's most underrated actor. As the only sane member of the Bluth family, this is the role tailor made for Bateman. The show would not work if he couldn't so effectively play the straight man to his family's ridiculous antics. This is the performance of his career and it deserves recognition.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Jennifer Aniston, Rachel on "Friends"
Alexis Bledel, Rory on "Gilmore Girls"
Sarah Chalke, Elliot on "Scrubs"
Lauren Graham, Lorelai on "Gilmore Girls"
Alicia Silverstone, on "Miss Match"

My week simply wouldn't be the same without my Girls and since each actress gracefully carried multiple story lines this season, I think they're both leads. Sarah Chalke is able to pull off both the slapstick aspects of her role with the more serious moments. And "Miss Match" was gone way too soon from the line up, but as any fan of "Clueless" knows, there is something innately charming about Alicia Silverstone.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

Will Arnett, Gob on "Arrested Development"
Brad Garrett, Robert on "Everybody Loves Raymond"
Tony Hale, Buster on "Arrested Development"
Sean Hayes, Jack on "Will & Grace"
Edward Herrmann, Richard on "Gilmore Girls"
John C. McGinley, Dr. Perry Cox on "Scrubs"

Oh, how I love those Bluth boys. Arnett and Hale could teach a master class in comic timing and deadpan delivery. And if the Emmy voters don't realize that for the last three years, McGinley has been turning in a pitch-perfect performance I don't know how to help them. If he's omitted again this year, I may boycott the ceremony.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Kelly Bishop, Emily on "Gilmore Girls"
Portia de Rossi, Lindsay on "Arrested Development"
Judy Reyes, Carla on "Scrubs"
Doris Roberts, Marie on "Everybody Loves Raymond"
Bitty Schram, Sharona on "Monk"

You know I never was a big fan of de Rossi's annoying Nell on "Ally McBeal," but I adore her as the self-centered and perpetually clueless Lindsay. And I'll never get tired of Roberts' tyrannical, hysterical, but loving mother-in-law.

Now remember in keeping with the "If I ruled the Emmy world" philosophy, I put everyone where I think he or she belongs. Remember that Edie Falco and Tony Shaloub announce the Emmy nominees this Thursday at 8:30 a.m. ET on E! Agree with me? Disagree with me? Can't believe that I agonized over this list as if it actually mattered? Talk about it on the TV Gal message boards.
